In 1708, our beloved 10th Master Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, gave us the greatest blessing ever- DHAN SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI- Right from the alphabet, to the content, was brought to us by Guru Ji from Sachkhand. We are the only ones blessed with an original and authentic source direct from Sachkhand.
Gurbani is our Guru. Reading and understanding our Guru is the first step to know our Guru. This Academy is establish to cater this needs. Join the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Academy to read Gurbani, Listen to Gurbani, Study the History of our Gurus and understand Gurbani, so that we can follow HIS path. The Sri Guru Granth sahib Ji Academy Malaysia Trust has been established solely to provide to the Sikh Community a platform for learning Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Efforts undertaken in this short time frame is already bearing fruits.
For the first time in Malaysia, there is now a systematic and organised syllabus on the teaching of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. A four-year program, the syllabus covers the three core competencies in the teaching of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji:
i) Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Reading
ii) Gurbani Understanding
iii) Sikh History
In this very short time frame, we now have students (approximately 350 of them) who have completed reading of at 730 ang of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, completed appreciation of at least 7 banis in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Also completed the lessons on lifes of 15 Bhagats and 2 Gurus - namely Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji and Sri Guru Amar Das Ji.
The syllabus is entirely prepared by Malaysians based on universally accepted references within the Sikh Diaspora such as Farid Kot Tika and the Edited Suraj Prakash by the famous Bhai Vir Singh Ji.
The Sri Granth Sahib Ji santhia (reading) pothis, prepared in 8 volumes is the very first in the World with punctuations and pronounciations guide. All materials produced by the Academy are given out at cost.
